Why do I see dots over the image after activating?
Posted by Marco Paolini on 05 September 2013 05:11 PM

If you are still seeing demo dots after activating, your host program has either rendered or cached the dots. To remedy the situation, follow the instructions below.

After Effects

After Effects caches images for performance which can result in dots after activation.

  • Select Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache
  • or
  • Restart After Effects

Final Cut Pro X

Final Cut Pro X is automatically set to Background render, so it is easy to render dots over the image while in demo mode. In this case, you would need to delete your render files.

  • To remove the render files, switch to the Project Library (Cmd+0) and select the project with the render files you want to delete.
  • With the project name selected, go to File > Delete Project Render Files.
  • When prompted, select Delete all render files.

Final Cut Pro 7

Final Cut Pro caches images for performance which can result in dots after activation.

  • Scrub through the Timeline a bit.
  • or
  • Restart Final Cut Pro.
